SACRED MEMORY

In a world that seems to move faster with each passing day, the concept of memory often gets reduced to fleeting snapshots, quickly forgotten and replaced by the next urgent demand. Yet, within the sacred texts, we find a different perspective on memory—one that is not merely about recalling the past but about connecting with the divine, preserving identity, and understanding purpose. The Power of Remembrance The Bible repeatedly calls us to remember. In Deuteronomy 6:12, God warns the Israelites, “be careful that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” This call to remembrance is not just about recollecting historical events; it's about recognizing God's faithfulness, His enduring presence, and the lessons He teaches through our experiences. Memory, in this sacred sense, is an act of worship. When we remember what God has done, we reaffirm our trust in Him, and our faith is strengthened. It's a way of anchoring ourselves in th

Have you ever felt like you're at the end of your rope, with no clear direction or hope in sight? Life has a way of leading us into moments where we feel overwhelmed, confused, and desperate for answers. It’s in these moments, when everything seems uncertain, that one word from God can change everything. Whether it was the sound of a rushing mighty wind at Pentecost (Acts 2:2) or the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees before David's victory over the Philistines (2 Samuel 5:24), these sounds signaled God's presence and His power at work. The Sound of Silence In 1 Kings 19:11-12, we find the prophet Elijah experiencing a divine encounter. God was not in the powerful wind, nor the
